Chicago: JW Marriott cuts room rates to $199 to mark Fourth of July

So much happens in Chicago during the Fourth of July week. There’s a free Independence Day Celebration concert at Millennium Park, fireworks at the Navy Pier and a boat tour to take it all in. JW Marriott Chicago marks the holiday by dropping room rates to $199 a night.
The deal: This is for folks who want to travel over the holiday and want a classy holiday far from a backyard barbecue. The downtown hotel is close to Millennium Park, Magnificent Mile shopping and other landmarks, which makes for easy touring.
You won’t need a car, a good thing because parking costs $45 a night at this hotel. Room rates drop to $199 a night plus tax over a long holiday period so you can go early or late. The hotel also has a new indoor pool with pool-side cocktails that adds to the the summery vibe in the heart of the city.
When: Discount room rate is good July 1-8.
Tested: I found availability at the discount rate July 4-7 for a room with one king-sized bed or two double beds. Room rates usually are $319 a night plus tax.
