Reporting from Las Vegas — Alt rockers Bastille join Silversun Pickups, Fidlar and The Moth & The Flame at radio station X107.5’s annual Holiday Havoc, a yearly bash that takes place at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, on Dec. 15.
London-based singer and songwriter Dan Smith was thinking of his July 14 birthday when he named his band Bastille for the French holiday.
The band’s independent debut single “Flaws” earned Bastille half a million views on YouTube and caught the attention of Virgin Records. Three singles later and they sold out their first UK tour as headliners.
Bastille’s 2014 hit “Pompeii” sold more than 10 million singles worldwide. The next album, “Bad Blood,” was the biggest-selling digital album of 2013.
Silversun Pickups has big hits with songs such as “Panic Switch” and “Lazy Eye,” earning a nomination for Best New Artist at the 2010 Grammy Awards. The Silverlake, Calif.-based band released its fourth studio album, “Better Nature,” in September.
Los Angeles-based rock band Fidlar came out in 2009, influenced by punk rockers such as Blink-182 and the Offspring. The band’s second studio album, “Too,” appeared this year.
Los Angeles-based The Moth & The Flame plays what is described as “lush, atmospheric rock.” The group’s debut album comes out later this year.
